Blueprint Conference-Lagos 2019


The Blueprint Conference is an annual conference organized by JSAID involving interior design professionals, architects, skilled workers, artisans, creatives and manufacturers with the aim of creating a thriving community within the interior design industry.

It is one of the few programs that brings together design industry partners annually, to build partnerships and collaborations, and to foster peer learning and knowledge sharing around design.

The conference seeks to empower attendees with practical tools, guidance and motivation as well as the professional networks to take their businesses and ambitions to the next level. The conference has been successful in leveraging the knowledge of renowned design professionals and business experts from all over the world.

The last edition of the Blueprint Conference which took place in Lagos, on 10th of November 2018 at Radisson Blu Ikeja, under the theme “The Business of Interior Design” was in partnership with Interior Designers Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Black International Designers Association Atlanta, Essential Interiors and Travel Quest.

Given the event’s success in Nigeria, the Blueprint Conference wishes to expand the event across West Africa and thereafter to the entire continent.

We are proud to announce that we were selected as part of the official event partners by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo’s Year of the Return initiative. The Year of the Return is a yearlong celebration of cooperation and cultural exchange between Africa and its Diaspora.

It is coordinated by the Ghana Tourism Authority, in partnership with the Office of Diaspora Affairs (Office of the President), under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. It is our honour to have the Blueprint Conference Ghana officially endorsed as part of this program.

The Blueprint Conference Lagos—now in its second consecutive year seeks to unite key players and innovators from the worlds of architecture, real estate and interior design for an incomparable one-day conference with a host of interactive workshops and panel discussions on timely and provocative topics.

The theme of this year’s conference – Collaboration within the interior design industry seeks to represent and promote the built industry through advocacy, outreach, high standards, integrity, education and investment in the community in which we live and work.

The Second edition of the Blueprint Conference Lagos will be held on the 5th of October 2019 at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, VI.

JSAID proudly holds a solid reputation as a highly involved interior design school within our community. The Blueprint Conference demonstrates our commitment to our community by hosting this event annually to enlighten and educate design professionals

This year’s conference will bring together more than 150 attendees to experience a live dialogue and exchange of ideas from the leaders shaping the interior design industry and beyond, and will feature moguls like Ms. Titi Ogufere IFI President-Elect, Mrs. Omon Anenih Mordi- President Interior Designers Association of Nigeria, Mrs. Udo Okonjo – CEO Fine and Country (Proposed), amongst other experts in the built industry.

This conference provides an innovative platform for the public to hear from great thinkers and doers from a myriad of design-related fields, and debate and discuss the most significant ideas, trends and issues of the day.

Jennifer Chukwujekwe

Jennifer Chukwujekwe is a wife, mother and a Geology graduate with a Masters in Applied Computing and IT from the University of Bedfordshire, UK. Her passion for creating beautiful spaces led to her pursuing a career in Interior Design. She is a graduate of the Interior Design Institute, UK.

An Experienced Interior Designer and a member of the Interior Design Association Nigeria, She is also the Founder of Jenniez School of African Interior Design and Creative Director Jenniez Designs. She started out with an interior design blog called Jenniez design concept and a Facebook group called Design Club which is now a social club for upcoming interior decorators who hang out to learn and share knowledge and experience in the industry.

JSAID was founded to bridge the gap in interior decorating education in Nigeria and Africa. She observed that the few interior design schools in Nigeria who offered interior design certifications, were actually offering interior decoration courses as interior design courses, JSAID is proud to be an approved educator of the Certified Interior Decorators International Florida.

From the experience of having an interior decoration school, she realized most design professionals had the design skills but didn’t know how to run a successful interior design business. Hence the introduction of her online course which was launched on the 25th of June 2018 -The Pro Designers Blueprint which teaches all you were never taught in design school.

She is a mentor at Fate Foundation and a protégé of Steve Harris coaching program. She has undergone courses with top international interior design business coaches and she is now a Design Business Coach.


2019 Speakers

Titi Ogufere

Titi Ogufere is the founder of the Interior Designers Association of Nigeria (IDAN) and Creative Director, Essential Interiors Consultancy.

She is also the publisher of Essential Interiors magazine, Essential Traveller, Essential Woman magazine and author of a number of books focusing on interior design, fashion, hotels in West Africa to mention a few.

She publishes inserts in national dailies. Titi runs a successful design practice that has designed a wide range of domestic, commercial and hospitality projects across Nigeria, South Africa and the UK. She prides herself on creativity and attention to detail, making the client’s dream a reality whilst maintaining the integrity of the building.

She has worked across a wide range of disciplines creating everything from various interior commissions, signature bespoke pieces, exhibition design, private and commercial projects, to lighting and installation, for an exclusive list of highly select clients across the globe.

With her practice and publications well established, she founded the Interior Design Excellence Award and Made by Design; a luxury home and hospitality fair. In recognition of her contributions as a true leader in the design community in Africa, Titi was invited as an Ex- Officio Executive Committee member of the International Federation of Interior Architects/ Designers (IFI) and has served on the board for 5 years.

In 2017, Titi was elected the President-Elect (2017-2019) of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers. The International Federation of Interior Architects / Designers (IFI) is the global voice and authority for professional Interior Architects / Designers. As the singular international federating body for Interior Architecture / Design organizations, IFI acts as a global forum for the exchange and development of knowledge and experience in worldwide education, research and practice.

Often considered as the “United Nations” of the Interior Architecture/Design field IFI represents 270,000 designers, educators and industry stakeholders in the international design community in 110 countries.

Titi will be its youngest and first black president in 2019.

Hassan Anifowoshe

He is an Architect and the Co-Founder of Chronos Studeos; and well-known for outstanding 3D Visualization projects in the Nigerian Design and Construction Industry. With a solid background in Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Hassan is constantly working on the edge.

He completed his Masters in Environmental Design (Architecture) and graduated from the University of Lagos in 2012. Working on small and large projects ranging from private residential projects to the Standard Chartered Bank parkade and the construction supervision of the $40m Circle Mall has equipped him with a huge base of industry knowledge. Hassan’s professional practice and project management experience continues to drive his passion and commitment to process improvements.

He is currently a PhD Student in the Architecture department at Texas A&M University where he is exploring new frontiers of research into the practical application of BIM, Blockchain Technology and Virtual Reality for improved project performance on construction projects. He is a Full Member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects whose design, ‘SOHO Living for Urban Professionals’ made it to the 2nd stage of the World Architecture News (WAN) Awards in December 2012. He has received several awards and continues to.

Beyond his expertise in the field of Architecture, he is keen to encourage young entrepreneurs who harbour a similar talent and passion for industry-related subjects. He is Creator and Chief Host of the yearly ‘Creative Architects’ Event where approximately 1500 attendees; mostly Architects, converge to exchange enterprise ideas.

Adeniji Andrew, of the famous Andrezini interior  design is no doubt one of God’s gifts to Nigeria. It’s no longer news that Andrezini, under the watch of Adeniji has scored many first in the world of interior design.

Not only that, Andrezini’s creativity and up to speed technological innovations has not only placed the brand miles ahead of its competitors. It has also changed the face of interior design in Nigeria.

Besides, his leadership role in the interior design world, Adeniji, has built himself into a big brand. He is a role model for so many young people coming behind him in the industry. And even his mates always look at him with envy. Call him the man with the magic wand and you won’t be wrong.

He is a man blessed with gift of creativity. And for years, he has been churning out great interior designs for his high-profile clients.

Omon Anenih Mordi

Omon Anenih-Mordi is the Creative Director Blue Mahogany. She is currently the President of Interior Designers Association of Nigeria {IDAN}.

Tokunbo Sule-Owuda

Tokunbo is a vibrant and enthusiast Architect based in Lagos, Nigeria.
She commenced her college studies at The Yaba College of Technology in Architecture, bagged a Masters in Business Administration and went ahead to becoming a certified PRINCE 2 Professional in Project Management, this was instrumental to the making of a memorable architectural design and build exploits.

She is also an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS). Her astute sense of space has had a profound effect on her design approach as she is able to manipulate around spaces without compromise expertly.
Being an optimist is a prerequisite for anyone who wants to build because construction is a matter of optimism, it is a matter of facing the future with confidence. Tokunbo believes and is driven by this word of “CeasarPelli”.
She has over 17 years’ experience in the architectural and building industry. Until 2012, she worked as a project manager/Director at a private Architectural & Construction company where she resigned her position as an Associate partner to start her own company -Walsher DB Limited.
Her work and experience span from Residential to commercial buildings, banking expansion/remodelling, hospitals and Hospitality, mixed-use, high rise and health buildings.

Known as an architect who has over the course of her career consistently pushed the limit of Architecture design and build, Interiors space planning, remodelling, and re-urbanization with her intuitive, self-taught, conceptual and stylish design approach.

Her broad exposure and travels have been of immense advantage and she has left her signature works within and outside the shores.

She is also a Feng Shui explorer.

Ogochukwu Agu- BnB Living

BnB Living (formerly Beddings ‘n’ Beyond) is an interior design brand based in Lagos, Nigeria. Lead by a completely self-taught principal creative Ogochukwu Agu, the brand specializes in high-end residential interior design through the BnBLiving Designs [BBID] studio, to create luxurious yet livable and functional interiors with beautiful bespoke finishes; offering highly personalized levels of service – values that lie at the very heart of their business.
The design studio – making the leap from retail to interior design in 2016 – has grown to a recognized design brand, for its simple yet timeless and luxurious style, and attention to the smallest details.

Nwamaka Okoye

Entrepreneur, architect and interior designer, Nwamaka Okoye is the managing director and co-founder of Housessories limited,
she has over 20 years of professional experience in interior design, furniture design & manufacturing, Nwamaka has won a number of design awards including 3rd place finalist, hunter fan design competition, Savannah Georgia, USA; 1st place portfolio scholarship award winner, organization of Nigerian building professionals, Chicago chapter; 3rd place, matrix design competition.

Nwamaka is the pioneer Nigeria chapter president for the Stanford seed transformation network. she is a member of & Institute of Directors (IOD) and interior design association of Nigeria (IDAN).

A graduate of architecture, she also studied interior design at the savannah college of art and design, Georgia. she has a master’s degree in engineering technology (with specialization in illustration & multimedia) from East Tennessee state university.

Olawale Ayilara

Olawale Ayilara is a visionary executive and entrepreneur with over 10 years experience starting and running businesses in the South West region of Nigeria.
He is the Founder & CEO of LandWey Investment Limited, a real estate investment company employing innovative methods that are disrupting the Real Estate sector in the region with expert hands on knowledge from concept to construction to developing and implementing the management and operations of estates.
Prior to founding LandWey, he worked as Head, Business Development, Creativity and Strategy at Eagles Insight and Innovations and Co-founded Nigerian Property Investments Group; a real estate platform for Nigerians in diaspora. He is a seasoned business development strategist that has spent most of his career in Business Development, Innovations & Strategy.
An alumnus of Lagos Business School EDC with an MBA from the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK, he sits on the board of over 10 high profile businesses, and is a member of the Sponsors for Young Growing Business Association, a pan African organization comprising a network of leading African professionals thriving in challenging career paths.
A recent Alumnus of the Harvard Business School in Boston, where he studied Real Estate Management, Finance, Design and Leadership.

Joy Shittu Igbodike - Founder Jaebee furniture

Joy started learning the skill of Furniture making by taking up chores in her mum’s factory when she was 14years.
She was privileged to have been taught by the best professionals and experts in furniture making to deliver best quality furniture at all times. Serving in this capacity also led her to the world of Interior design and became a certified interior designer, built capacity in design, production and operations management.
She graduated as a Mechanical Engineer and upon graduation, Joy started working with her mom officially in 2001. She realized that the furniture they created in her mother’s establishment were out of the reach for many people and she wanted to provide beautiful furniture that is also functional to people at an affordable price. So she resigned and started Jaebee Interiors in 2005 which was officially registered it in 2009. Since then, she has continuously looked for cost effective ways of production with optimal use of resources and a mindset of creating more value to customers.

Today, she is the CEO of Jaebee Furniture, Founder Jaebee Furniture School where she teaches others the skills, techniques and rudiments of making good quality furniture and Furniture Experts Network which is a network of over 500 furniture makers in Nigeria and a strong advocate of made in Nigeria Furniture. She is also a faculty member of MRDC (Masterpiece Resource Development Centre), where she teaches operations management and a member of NNEW (Neca’s Network of Entrepreneurial women) where she serves as the vice President of the furniture and interior design sector and currently the serving president of INDECARP (Interior designers and Carpenters Cooperative Multipurpose Society). • In 2016, Joy was one of the recipient of the Women X scholarship from the World Bank and the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan- Atlantic University for women led businesses. • One of the pioneer beneficiaries of the OxFam Work-in-progress (WIP) on entrepreneurial development which has helped grow the business.

Lucy Agwunobi- Co-Founder TRT Arredo

Lucy Agwunobi is the co-founder of TRT Arredo, a furniture company that designs and manufactures modern woodwork and other furniture pieces for homes and offices. TRT has been in operation for over 10 years and has grown to engage over 90 permanent staff for its operations nationwide. Since its establishment, Lucy has managed operations and strategic planning that resulted in a net profit increase of more than 30 percent annually in the past 7 years. Outside of work, she is committed to empowering startups through her work with Project Lift Up Africa – an initiative that provides funding and mentoring for small business owners to start and grow their businesses. She started learning swimming and Rollerblading at 32 and will go sky diving with no hesitation. She loves books nearly as much as she loves food. She also writes stories in her spare time and has a few books published under a pen name on Amazon. Lucy resides in Abuja, Nigeria with her husband and three kids. Lucy Agwunobi will be taking on the team-building session where you will learn about how to create the right environment to keep your employees motivated and give their best.

Derin Fagbure

Derin Fagbure -A Corporate lawyer with special interest in corporate governance. She is a Senior Associate in the Transaction and Business Support Practice of Esher and Makarios.
She is a graduate of Igbinedion University and has a Master’s Degree in Corporate Law from University College London. She is a member of the African Society of Crowdfunding. Her column” in black and white “which is published in Thisday Law discusses innovations in corporate governance and finance.
She is passionate about entrepreneurs and writes regularly on legal structures for SMEs through her brand “in black and white”. She has spoken at various fora and business summits on the importance of a legal structure towards ensuring business perpetuity. Derin is passionate about advising small businesses with a view to ensuring that they outlive their founders.
An active bar member, she currently serves as the Chairman of the Young Lawyers’ Forum of the NBA Lagos Branch.
